Who We Are

Britni Blackketter | Founder & Executive Director

Britni has a passion for education in all forms and has spent the last 10 years working in the charity sector. She has helped set up and run community based programs focusing on educating women and families within Brooklyn, NY and abroad. She is a qualified ESL instructor with a CELTA certification from Teaching House, NY.  Her bachelors degree is in Sociology and Spanish and she is currently working towards her graduate degree at Hunter College in Early Childhood Education.  She currently works alongside her team at Mother to Mother in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, focusing on on development.

Britni started Mother to Mother as a way to connect mothers from different cultures to each other. At the heart of this lies a passion to see women from all backgrounds empowered to meet their personal, professional, or educational goals and given a chance to make and build friendships across cultures.

Alongside education, Britni loves spending time with her husband and two children. She looks for any chance to travel and loves her local community of friends.

Sarah Wang | Education Programs Director

Sarah is a teacher and advocate for adult education. She has taught in and coordinated a number of ESOL and vocational education programs for adult students, including International Rescue Committee (New York, NY), Trinity Grace Church (Brooklyn, NY), the International Culinary Center (New York, NY), and Hope Fellowship Church (Cambridge, MA). Her passion for working with immigrant populations was inspired by the refugees she worked with in Oakland, California after graduating from university. At Mother to Mother, she considers her students her peers and loves hearing what they have to say, and her goals in teaching center around just that: encouraging and equipping her students to share their culture and their ideas!

Sarah holds a TESLA (Teaching ESOL to Adults) certification from the Literacy Assistance Center in New York City and a Masters in Education in Language and Literacy from Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Outside of the classroom, Sarah spends most of her time with her husband and her son, mostly looking at cars, trucks, airplanes, helicopters, wheels, cranks, levers, and anything else that he can move, turn, pull, open, or unlock.
